| We
are offering three math camps this summer starting with pre-algebra
(ideal for students getting ready for middle school or for ISEE) and
moving through algebra (the first course is ideal for students prepping
for the upper ISEE): Pre-Algebra Readiness Camp This
camp is designed to
help students prepare for middle school math (pre-algebra and algebra). The class will review all basic computation
(addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and then will review
and
teach operations with fractions, operations with decimals, proportions,
percents, and operations with integers. That
class will focus on mastery, speed, and accuracy and
will also work
with word problems that range from basic word problems to more
difficult ISEE
and SAT-type word problems. The class will be fast-paced and include
competitions between students, speed and accuracy tests, and other
games to
push kids to master their math skills quickly and efficiently. This weeklong camp will help students recall
(and learn) all of the basic math skills necessary to succeed in middle
school. The class also covers all of the
basic math skills necessary for ISEE prep for the lower and middle
levels. Time: 9:00 am–3:00 pm, M-F
July 19-July 23
This
camp will teach
students the material covered in the first semester of Algebra I. The camp is designed for students who want to
get a head start on 8th grade algebra, want to review basic
algebra,
or want to prepare for the upper level ISEE. The
camp will mostly cover concepts in linear algebra:
expressions and
equations, one-step and multi-step equations, simple
and compound inequalities,
graphing equations and inequalities, solving and graphing absolute
value
equations and inequalities, linear systems, and systems of linear
inequalities. The class will also cover
basic algebra word problems (especially: setting up equations,
mixtures, rates,
etc.). This week-long algebra intensive
will provide students with a solid background in basic linear algebra
which
will give them a step up in Algebra I, help review for Algebra II,
cover most
of the basic algebra problems on the PSAT and SAT, and cover almost all
of the
algebra in the upper level ISEE.
This
camp will teach
students the material covered in the second semester of Algebra I. The camp is open to 6th to 9th
graders, we recommend that students be familiar with linear algebra
before they
attend. On the first day of class, we
will briefly cover the topics from the “Algebra Camp” but
the bulk of the class
will focus on more difficult algebra. The
class will cover: addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and
division with polynomials,
factoring, various methods for solving quadratic
equations (factoring, completing the square, using the quadratic
equations),
and a wide range of algebraic word problems (mixtures, distance,
percents,
gravity). The class is designed to cover most of the material in the
second
semester of Algebra I and the material overlaps with most of the
material
covered in the first semester of Algebra II. This
camp is ideal for any student who wants to review
Algebra I,
prepare for Algebra II, or review algebra for SAT.
The small class will allow the instructor to
teach to the class and work with students individually. We recommend
that
students take both algebra camps unless they are very familiar with the
first
semester of Algebra I – the first few weeks of Algebra II will
review the
material from the first semester of Algebra I (Algebra Camp). Time: 9:00 am–3:00 pm, M-F

Summer Tutoring, Too! | Enrollment Information | ||||||||||||||||
| For
many students, summer is a great time to brush up on skills or get
ahead for
the next school year. If your students are struggling, summer is the perfect time to get extra help. When students are free from school homework, they can spend more time and energy filling academic gaps and getting prepared for the new school year. Whether you're looking for help with academic subjects or prep for tests (including ISEE, HSPT, and SAT), summer is great time to to get a head start! EdBoost Summer tutoring hours are: Monday-Thursday 10am-5pm Current students: If you're interested in tutoring, contact us with your preferred times, days, subjects, and tutors. Please note: all appointments are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. New students: EdBoost offers both One-on-One Academic Tutoring and Test Preparation Tutoring during the summer. Before they start tutoring at EdBoost, we'll ask students to come in and take a diagnostic exam. With that exam, we can determine the student's tutoring needs. Schedule assessments now so that we're ready to start tutoring as soon as summer begins! Note: EdBoost will be closed June 26 - July 4, 2010. Summer tutoring begins July 5, 2010. |
We are now enrolling
students for 2010 Summer Day Camps
and for summer tutoring sessions. Space in the day camps is limited. To reserve a spot, please submit the following materials ASAP (all forms can be downloaded below):
Summer Registration Form Scholarship Form Policies & Procedures * We offer need-based scholarships for all summer camps. (If you have a current scholarship form on file, please contact us for scholarship rates for summer classes. If you do not have a scholarship form on file, but wish to apply, submit the scholarship application (above) with your registration form and we'll contact you with your scholarship rate.) ** Note: We reserve the right to cancel camps if we do not reach minimum enrollment. Payment for camps is due one month before the start of the camp and if we need to cancel a camp will will notify (and provide refunds) to enrolled parents with at least three weeks notice. All forms are also available for pick-up at EdBoost Learning Center. |
